October 20th - CIE Global Perspectives Day
80 schools from more than 30 countries around the world took part in Cambridge Global Perspectives Day on October 20th, including classes from the UK, the USA, New Zealand, Peru, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Canada, Spain, Norway, France, Jordan, China, Cambodia, Egypt, Pakistan, Brazil, Argentina, Italy ,the UAE and Bulgaria, presented by Darbi College.
The Day started at Columba College, Dunedin, New Zealand at about 2200 GMT and end at Churchill College, Col. San Pablo Tepetlapa, Mexico, a day later.
Students joined online debates with students from around the world, published news articles about issues affecting their country, uploaded photographs and designed a t-shirt for Global Perspectives Day. Darbi college students produced an article about the Global Financial Crisis and its local reflections.
CIE will publish a special e-newspaper containing the articles written by students and have best t-shirt printed.
Dr Kevin Stannard, CIE Director of International Curriculum Development, said: 'This was a fantastic opportunity to connect with students around the world in a way that has never been done before. Cambridge Global Perspectives students develop a greater understanding of the world around them and are encouraged to share and compare experiences, observations, ideas and feelings on a wide range of topics.They develop skills of enquiry, collaboration, reflection, evaluation and problem solving, and apply them to real-world issues.'
